About Mausumi Roy

b. 1982) Lives and works in KOLKATA, INDIA . MAUSUMI ROY is an Indian ceramic sculptor known for her detailed, narrative works. My existence is that of an ever-evolving mould of clay, shaped by my senses and rhythms of the ether flowing around me. I am her daughter, and she has given me colour love and emotions. But she has also bestowed the coating contradictions flowing in my veins, and soul. These contradictions and colour sensations travel through my heart, my chest, my arms, my fingers and into clay in front of my . My father, sculptor Gopinath Roy, has taught me to control my emotions and my fingers… and I am a product of them both, the human in the mortal form and the universe in the immortal form, calming and engaging energy and will to create…. I am Mausumi Roy… and I am a Ceramic Sculptor.
